Thuso Mbedu (Nawi) Geared And Ready For “The Woman King”

No need for words. I’ll let the trailer do the talking. Thuso Mbedu, a South African actress, used such words to announce the upcoming release of the movie The Woman King, in which she and other well-known people appeared.

She portrayed Nawi, one of many women in the all-female army known as Agoji, in the movie.

The female warriors from Dahomey (now the Benin Republic), who fought and protected their nation between the 18th and 19th centuries, are recreated in the movie. The South African actress had to go through physical training and testing before joining the cast to make sure she was ready for her part.

She excelled in them, and as Nawi in The Woman King, she will soon light up screens. Thuso Mbedu recalled what happened and acknowledged having a phobia of heights. But in order to accept the part, she had to overcome it. Now, she only chuckles when she thinks about her height. In order to get what she wanted, she had to face her fear.

Mbedu is a “youngling,” but one of the select few who are already playing a significant role in representing South Africa abroad. And she’s had the chance to collaborate with some of the best in the business.
