Plane Crash In Westchester County Was Caused By Damaged Engine. The plane accident in Westchester County is thought to have been caused by a faulty engine.

The National Transportation Safety Board found that a defective engine contributed to a tiny plane’s accident last month as it neared a New York airport, which claimed the lives of two on board. According to the investigation, the aircraft bled oil as a result of the broken engine.

Investigators discovered fresh oil at the bottom of the fuselage and a hole in the top of the crankcase. This is thought to be the reason why the flight on January 19 from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York to the Cuyahoga County Airport in Richmond Heights, Ohio, was not as smooth as it could have been.

According to CBS News, the plane went silent after broadcasting “Mayday.” The pilot had radioed air traffic controllers that the plane was approaching the White Plains airport with a “dead cylinder.” It was later found in a heavily-wooded area near Rye Lake by search-and-rescue crews.
