The Kicks Sportwear firm has filed a lawsuit against Makhadzi and her production company, Open Mic Records, alleging that they violated the terms of their cooperation agreement.
The celebrated singer announced the release of her footwear line, Kokovha, in December 2021. Kicks Sportwear was a partner in this endeavor.
The brand claims that despite their agreement, the celebrity has refused to wear the sneakers to appearances and promote them on social media.
According to court documents obtained by Sunday World, the Kicks brand suffered a significant financial loss as a result of Makhadzi’s infringement.
The plaintiff consequently seeks R8 249 120 in damages for the following: The units of shoes in the warehouse were 6 900 pairs, 20 pairs of which were sold in Limpopo, making 6 880 pairs of shoes at the retail price they would have sold. This is because the first and second defendants violated the partnership agreement.
The documents state that the plaintiff “suffered a terrible financial loss of R379 921 due to the breach caused by the first and second defendants, which invoices were attached to the letter of demand that was sent on the 6th of May 2022.”
