American Rapper Fat Joe Remembers Riky Rick, Talks Mental Health

Gone but not forgotten. That phrase best describes the tragic sojourn on the material plane of South African rapper Riky Rick. The songster had died by suicide earlier this year, but his memory is ever fresh, and tweeps routinely recollect the same.

American rapper Fat Joe is the latest to pay tribute to the memory of the “Boss Zonke” hitmaker. Fat Joe was the host of the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta, where Riky Rick was honoured with an award.

Addressing the issue of mental health soon after, he had noted that one really has to be in a dark place to actually contemplate suicide. He bid the South African rest in peace.

He then dwelled further on the issue of mental health, noting that it was spoken about enough in the community. People have to talk more about mental health because they don’t know what people are going through.

For those who might be going through a mental health crisis, he urged them always to seek help. Asking for help will, of course, bear the odds one doesn’t go off the cliff with depression.

Riky Rick’s death earlier this year reverberated around the country. Mzansi didn’t see it coming and has been in mourning since.
